VALENTINE MASTERPIECES
Many of the projects we will be creating will reflect upon the season of the beauty of the winter and the holiday of Valentines's Day. The projects are as follows ....
PK3- Valentine Heart with Arrow - Students will be learning how to create a symmetrical Valentine heart and learn how to create a pattern around the border of the heart. They will learn how to color in a pattern and use simple geometric shapes to create the arrow!
PK4- Valentine Ladybugs- Artists in this grade will be creating a ladybug based on simple geometric shapes. They will learn that drawing shapes create form. They will practice coloring it in with Valentine Day colors of pink, red and purple.
KIndergarten- Valentine Butterflies- The concept of symmetry will be the objective of their lesson. They will create one side of the butterfly and then try to draw the other side exactly alike. They will also learn about patterning and how to color in neatly and in one direction with the Valentine colors of pink, purple and red.
Grade 1- Valentine Medley- Students will be creating an overall image of hearts of different sizes and learning about distance depth and overlapping. They will see how an object of different sizes creates a more interesting image. Each heart will have a creative trim with a creative color pattern using the Valentine colors of pink, red and purple.
Grade 2- Valentine Bouquet-The students are creating a Valentine bouquet of flowers in a terra cotta like pot. They will create a decorative trim to their pot and color it in using a pattern. What makes their bouquet unique is that the flowers and leaves are in the shape of hearts. They will either create a patterned tableclothe or a table for their Valentine bouquet.
Grade 3- Intricate Heart Snowflakes- Artists in this grade will have their skills challenged by creating an intricate snowflake, where some of the motifs are hearts. After they take their time creating their Valentine snowflake, they will outline their creation with a blue pen or a blue marker.
Grade 4- Olympic Logo- Students in Grade 4 will be challenged to recreate the Olympic logo. A logo identifies some-
one or something ...it is a symbol for them... their indentification! After being shown the current logo, they will do their best to create a new one for the Olympics.
Grade 5- Cezanne Pear Drawing- The artists in Grade 5 are continuing to expand on their recreation of Cezanne's pear drawings...all are ever so beautifully done. Most students will be creating the tableclothe and the background in the coming weeks. Since they enjoyed this project so much, we will be creating another related Cezanne project.
Grade 6- Love Stamp-We will continue on with the re designing of the Love Stamp. They have created some lovely ideas and most are working on their final drawing. Once that is complete they will start to outline, and then create a color story for their creation.
Grade 7- Picasso Portraits- We will be continuing this month with the Picasso portraits. Each and every one is so creative and unique. Most artists are at least half way done with coloring the face and many are working on the background. Once everyone is done they will be creating another project in the style of Picasso.
Grade 8-Winter Barn Landscape- Our eighth grade artists are continuing on creating their winter barn scene. Some students are outlining the half of the drawing they completed and may begin
to color it in. Once one side is done ,they will continue to follow thru on the other side. They are really looking nice. It is important that you are taking the time to create your drawing based on your previous learned art skills and color it neatly and in one direction.
Please always follow thru at e mailing your work to Ms
Yuschik when asked, at the end of your art class. Also ,please look at your Google classroom that states the due dates of your projects. Due dates are an approximation of when a project should be finished and are always subject to change due to holidays, mass, etc. Thanks for creating!!
MASTERPIECES OF GOOD FORTUNE
Most students have completed their winter projects and /or their Valentine projects. We have now moved on to projects that relate to the month of March. PK3-Students in this grade are learning how to create a shamrock from a heart shape. After that ,they will be adding a pattern to each part of a clover ,as well as the stem. They will also color in a pattern. Each week, they will be adding something to their picture, until they achieve a full image. It's important for children at this age to practice their coloring skills so they will become better at this skill.
PK4-Artists in PK4 will be learning how to create a St Patrick's Day snail based on simple geometric shapes. They will learn about the color green and how to get other shades, tints and hues of that color, by adding other colors to their green base color.
Students in this grade ,should also be practicing their coloring skills ,so they will become better and better at this art skill in time.
Kindergarten-Students in this grade are learning about what symbols are part of this day of green and some of the customs of
St. Patrick's Day. We have already started with drawing a clover and have begun to color it in a pattern. After this ,we will be adding a rainbow to our picture and learn the correct way to color in a rainbow's colors. Hopefully ,we will be able to add a pot of gold to our picture ,if time allows. It is important that the students in this grade practice their coloring skills in order to become better at this skill.
Grade 1- The young artists in this grade are creating an adorable St Patrick's Day bear ,all dressed up in St Patrick's Day fashion. He is looking ever so fashion chic in his St. Patrick's Day hat and green turtleneck sweater. As they finish ,they will be creating an appropriate background. Please take your time to draw ,as well as to color and remember it takes time and patience to develop those art skills. Grade 2- Students in this grade are having fun creating their leprechaun of the season. They have decked him out in his green top hat and created such an adorable face. Students will also be creating a background that will tie in with the leprechaun theme. Remember to take your time drawing, outlining and coloring in as well....neatness is ever so important! Grade 3- The students in Grade 3 are learning how to create a landscape that represents the greenery of Ireland. In this project ,they will learn about distance, depth and proportion and how to color in their picture using minimal colors of green. They will enhance their picture with a creative sun and a colorful rainbow. Taking your time is most important while you are developing your art skills. Please do not rush. Grade 4-The artists in Grade 4 are challenging their art skills by recreating the Olympic logo. The top three circles were less challenging to create, then the overlapping bottom circles! They have done their best and now will be creating patterns for their circles ,as well as images representing winter sports ,in the middle of each ring. They will also create a background that relates to the winter season.
Grade 5 -Students will be dabbling in a new medium in art after they explored in pastels. They will be learning how to do a landscape of Ireland but they will be using watercolors. They will be trying to recreate the rolling hills of Ireland ,amongst the bright sun and a colorful rainbow. Since it may be a new medium for some,it will take patience in developing their watercolor skill and achieving a picture to their liking! Just keep trying! Grade 6- Artists in Grade 6 are continuing on their Love Stamp, with most students coloring in and others are working on their background. They have put much thought and work into their project and I look forward to their completion shortly!
Grade 7- Our Picaaso artists in 7th grade did a beautiful recreation of a portrait, as Picasso created years ago. So colorful they are with eye-catching backgrounds!! Now, they will recreate a vase of flowers in Picasso's style since they did such an outstanding job. I am looking forward to see what they will be creating Picasso style!!
Grade 8- Next week will be the last day to work on their winter barn landscape. For those that are finished, they will be creating the first of two graduation projects. They will begin to create a logo to represent their first name or initials and in the background, they will create images that represent them and tells the onlooker what they are all about. I look forward to helping them create an artistic representation of who they are.
The work has been impressive this year and I encourage all of you to keep working your hardest,so you can continue to achieve the best art skills ever and rise to a new level in art!! Keep moving forward with your creative energy!!!
SPRING AND SUMMER FEVER MASTERPIECES
As the weather begins to get nicer, art students are beginning to reflect upon what these seasons will bring their way. Following are the projects each grade will create related to the season of spring or summer.
PK3 will be learning how to draw a fish step by step. Many of the parts of a fish can relate to a geometric shape or a letter of the alphabet. This makes it more relatable to them and makes it easier for them to draw. Their fish will be drawn in the environment of under the sea. They will learn about cool colors of blue, turquoise and purple.
PK4 is learning how to create a bumblebee step by step. They will use basic geometric shapes to create their bee and learn about patterning. They will create an environment around their bee as well.
Kindergarten is beginning to create a sun out of basic geometric shapes and will be adding a pair of very cool sunglasses on their sun. It will also have rosey heart cheeks and a big smile that will make you smile! They are also learning about warm colors of yellow and orange that make their suns sparkle.
Grade 1 has been very busy creating for the springtime. They have been creating an oversized daffodil and used patterns to color the different parts of the flower in. What a contrast the yellow is against the orange and it is further enhanced by doing the leaves in lime green and turquoise. They also have been working on a butterfly and learning about symmetry and patterning. No two that have been drawn are alike and the patterning is astonishing. These projects certainly put you in a springtime mood!
Grade 2 have also learned how to create daffodils but theirs are in a vase!! They learned about symmetry, as they created their vase ,as well as their daffodil flower. They also learned about what a border is and created a vine border around their image. Now they are moving along to create an image based upon the theme "Sailboats on the Horizon". I am looking forward to see what they will create.
Grade 3 did a beautiful job creating their watercolor version of "The Hills of Ireland." They had a chance to experiment and dabble with watercolors! They are now moving forward and learning about artist Georgia O'Keeffe and how she created oversized flowers. Now, they will create in her style filling the paper with enormous flowers. They are very eager to create like this phenomenal artist!!
Grade 4 just finished a poster contest on the theme"Why Reusable Bags are Better" So many wonderful ideas were submitted. They are now finishing up their watercolor version of the three crosses. For many ,this is their first time creating in watercolors and they all did a phenomenal job! They are then learning about the art of pointillism and will try to create a summertime fruit picture colored in by using colored dots. They are up to the challenge!
Grade 5 also participated in the reusable bag contest and had many wonderful ideas as well! Now they are excited to continue on with watercolors, after they all created a landscape of Ireland. Their new picture will center around a beach theme. They will be experimenting with colors and techniques to make their picture look more interesting. I am definately looking forward to their creations!
Grade 6 continues to dabble in watercolors in their springtime flowers. They will all create an original flower and then do an overall design of it, filling up the whole paper. They are all coming up with beautiful creations and techniques in watercolors.
