Dear Parents,
As we enter a New Year, our students continue to explore and improve in various parts of the curriculum. Specifically, we will learn how to improve our writing and use various strategies and ideas to make it appealing to others. Spelling will focus upon utilizing more advanced spelling patterns and strategies that will help them become independent spellers.
Reading will be enhanced by exploring more complex stories and books as well as reading in different genres. Responding in writing to different pieces will be emphasized and will culminate in writing personal books,
In the area of mathematics, new concepts will be introduced while while reviewing and reinforcing that which has already been learned. Continued use of technology will help students become fluent and challenge our learners in this area..
Social studies and science are introduced through videos and magazine reading. The students are excited to learn and write about new ideas in class.

About Mr. WIlliamson
Mr. Williamson holds a BA in Early Childhood Education from Kean University. He also holds a Master's degree in Advanced Curriculum and Teaching from Kean University , a Master's degree in Urban Education from New Jersey City University and a Master's degree in Special Education..Prior to coming to St. Joseph School, Mr. Williamson worked in the Newark and East Orange Public Schools as a kindergarten teacher, literacy staff developer, Reading Recovery teacher and media specialist. Mr. Williamson is a licensed Reading Specialist. He has also taught on the college level at Kean University, New Jersey City and Brooklyn College. Mr. Williamson has trained teachers in the United States and St. Maarten.

Act of Contrition
